Obituary for Edward Hoffman Jr.
Edward J. Hoffman Jr., 70 of Pelican Island, Berkeley Township, NJ passed away on Sunday April 16. 2017 at home.
He was born in Newark, NJ he lived in Toms River, NJ before moving to Pelican Island.
Edward proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Edward started his career as a Police Officer in Seaside Park, then Seaside Heights, before joining the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. He retired as a Captain in charge of the Narcotics Strike Force retiring in 2000.
He was a member of the American Legion and also a member of the Seaside Moose Lodge, and the New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association.
Predeceased by his parents Edward Sr. and Helen (Spino) Hoffman, his wife Elaine Scott Hoffman and his sister Virginia LaCapria.
He is survived by his two sons; Chris Hoffman and his wife Barbara of Toms River, NJ and Erik Hoffman and his wife Mia of Seaside Heights, NJ and their mother Linda Hoffman. Grandchildren; Ava, Gianna, and Olivia, three loving nephews and also his dear friend Hervey Mobus.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday April 19, 2017 from 3 to 7pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 20, 2017 10am at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church, Seaside Park, NJ. Committal will be Private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Strike Out Autism Club of Middletown North High School, Middletown, NJ or to the NJ State Troopers, Survivors of the Triangle 800 Denow Road Suite C, 385 Pennington, NJ 08534.
