Peter M. Albano, 93, of Lavallette, NJ died peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, he graduated from Central High School and is a veteran of World War II. Peter was knighted by the President of the French Republic and given the title of Chevalier in connection with his involvement in the liberation of France
After returning from the War, he attended Seton Hall University. Thereafter he founded the accounting firm of Albano, Leaf, and Saltzman, where he served as a senior partner until retirement.
His professional memberships and philanthropic endeavors are long standing and include the NJ Society of CPAs, UNICO, Columbian Foundation and Columbus Hospital.
However, his biggest accomplishment was when he met the love of his life, Dorothea, with whom he was married for 68 years until her death this past July. They raised their 4 children in Colonia, NJ, later moving to Long Valley, NJ before eventually settling in Lavallette, NJ 6 years ago.
He is survived by his daughter Angel Plunkett and her husband, Ken, Toms River, NJ, his daughter, Joy Haag and her husband, Peter, Hackettstown, NJ & Millsboro, DE and his son, Matthew, and his wife, Michele, Westfield, NJ, 11 loving Grandchildren, 5 cherished Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothea, his son, Peter, his sister, Marie Amoroso, his step brothers, Anthony Tramaglini and Ralph Tramaglini, and his step sisters, Caroline Tedesco, Anna Marino and Mary Cybulski.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday 10:00am at The Parish of St. Pio, Lavallette, NJ. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
