Obituary for Katherine Diab

Katherine Diab passed away quietly and in her sleep in the early morning hours of April 6th. In the late 1960s and the 1970s she was the editor of the JACKSON News and could be seen with her legal pad taking detailed notes at all the public meetings in town. The photos would instantly appear ready for publication along with the stories she wrote to go with them. She also wrote a weekly column called Adlibs which included little pieces of gossip to entertain the locals. Later she worked for the Jackson School System and was in charge of coordinating the Adult School Program until she retired.

Katherine also served on the PTA for many years while her children were in school and could be seen on Saturdays manning the refreshment stand at the high school football games. Additionally through the years she served on the Planning Board, the Historical Society, the Zoning Board and was a founding member of the Jackson Memorial High School Scholarship Committee. She also served on the Board of Education and was instrumental in getting a referendum passed for funding to build the Goetz school.
